Herby Sings the Blues

Twenty-five years ago, my father was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. For a musician this was quite a shock. Ten years ago, I began documenting his illness. I have written about my father's illness, but given his striking physical presence I realized that video was a relevant alternative mode for exploring his story. The resulting video essay combines vintage photos, typography, and a video chronicle, all held together by my voiceover narrative, though I am no James Earl Jones. 9 minutes
